Does Your Athlete Know Where They Stand?
Fall sports are closer than they look.
Most athletes spend May doing nothing. Or they run some laps, do a few drills, and call it prep. By the time August camp rolls around, the gap between the kids who trained and the kids who didn’t is obvious — and it’s hard to close in a few weeks.
The problem isn’t effort. It’s direction.
Most athletes — and most parents — have no real baseline. No actual numbers to train toward. No honest picture of where they’re starting from. That guesswork is what keeps a lot of kids spinning their wheels all summer.
We’re trying to change that.
What the Combine Is
On Wednesday May 20 at 6:30 PM, The Well is hosting a free 60-minute athletic combine for any 7th–12th grade athlete in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Every athlete gets tested on five things. Every athlete walks out with a printed report card. Real numbers, the same kind college coaches and athletic trainers use.
The five tests:
- 10-yard sprint
- Broad jump
- Lateral shuffle
- Vertical jump
- A body-control screen
No fees. No commitment. Cap is 25 athletes, first come first served.

Why It Matters More Than the Tests
Here’s what we’re really giving your kid.
A starting line.
There’s a difference between an athlete who hopes they’re in good shape and one who knows exactly where they stand. The second one trains with intention. They have something to beat. They show up to fall camp with a chip on their shoulder instead of a question mark.
One hour at this combine and your athlete has that.
A real benchmark.
The report card goes home with them. Share it with their coach. Put it somewhere they’ll see it. Come back in the fall and run the same tests. The improvement — or lack of it — doesn’t lie.
A focus for the summer.
We’ll give every athlete a short note on what stood out and one specific thing to focus on before fall sports start. Not a generic training plan. One thing, tied to their actual numbers.
Who This Is For
This combine is built for any 7th–12th grade athlete in the Bowling Green area. Football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track, wrestling — it doesn’t matter what sport. The tests we run carry over to all of them.
And if your athlete is in spring sports this week and worried about a conflict: come anyway. Even if they can only stay 30 minutes between practice and home, we’ll get their numbers.
Who Is Running This
My name is Sam Beaver. I own The Well Health & Fitness, the gym at 1099 N. Main Street here in Bowling Green.
We’ve been training local athletes for years — high schoolers getting ready for fall sports, adults staying strong for the long haul, and everything in between. I started this gym in a parking lot during COVID and we’ve grown because of this community. Hosting something free for local kids is the least we can do.
