9,561,405 steps.
That’s how many steps our 32 Walktober participants took together last month.
It’s an incredible number, but what really matters isn’t just the total. It’s what those steps represent.
When I created this challenge, my goal wasn’t to turn people into marathon walkers or hit some crazy leaderboard target. It was about two simple things:
1️⃣ Helping people become more aware of their daily movement.
2️⃣ Giving everyone a reason to move a little more than usual, especially when the weather cools off and motivation starts to dip.
And wow, did it deliver.
Progress > Perfection
If there’s one thing I hope people take away from a challenge like this, it’s that perfect isn’t the goal.
Some days you crushed your steps. Other days you probably didn’t even come close. That’s fine.
Because fitness isn’t about streaks. It’s about momentum.
At The Well, we talk a lot about progress over perfection. You don’t have to be perfect to be successful. You just have to keep moving forward. Even on the messy days. Especially on the messy days.
Each step counts. Each effort matters. Even the small ones that no one sees.
Community > Competition
Yes, there was a leaderboard. But this challenge wasn’t about who finished first.
What made Walktober special was how everyone encouraged each other. I saw families walking together, coworkers syncing their steps, members cheering one another on in class.
That’s what makes this community different.
We celebrate effort. We celebrate showing up. And we celebrate the kind of friendly accountability that pushes us to be a little better each day.
At The Well, we truly believe fitness is a team sport. You might walk your own path, but you’re never walking alone.
Intentionality > Accidents
Health doesn’t happen by accident. It has to be built into your day, planned into your schedule, and protected from everything that tries to pull it away.
That’s why challenges like Walktober matter. They help us pay attention.
When you track your steps, you start to notice patterns. You see how easily a busy day can slip by without movement. You recognize how good it feels when you choose to move anyway.
Intentionality is the secret ingredient behind every transformation we see at The Well. It’s the quiet discipline that turns “I’ll try” into “I did.”
Why This Matters Beyond Walktober
The lessons from this challenge go far beyond a single month of walking.
They’re the same principles that guide everything we do at The Well Health & Fitness:
- Progress over perfection.
- Community over competition.
- Intentionality over accidents.
These aren’t slogans. They’re the foundation for how we coach, how we train, and how we help people build lives that feel good inside and outside the gym.
Because training for life isn’t about having the perfect plan. It’s about having the right mindset.
So whether you joined Walktober or not, I hope this inspires you to take the next step—literally or figuratively—toward better health.
Small steps. Big results.
That’s how you Train for Life. 💙
